Welcome to Sunday School

Sunday School During COVID
(Fall 2020 Update)

Registration begins Sept. 13
Sunday School begins Oct. 11

The Board of Education and Director of Sunday School met on Monday, August 24, and reviewed the results from the Sunday School Re-Opening Survey that was sent to families with school-aged children. From those results we found that there are an overwhelming number of families that want their children to return to Sunday School. The survey also showed that October 11th is the preferred start date and that any precautionary measures that can be taken to keep the children safe are greatly appreciated.

Registration for Sunday School will start September 13th. Registering your kids ahead of time will greatly help us know how best to plan for enough space and teachers.

Precautions that we will be taking include but are not limited to, sanitizing classrooms and common areas, having children use hand sanitizer often, washing hands often, using classrooms to fit class sizes to socially distance as much as possible, reducing contact surfaces as appropriate, leaving classroom doors open for additional air circulation, and not participating in music or signing. Due to the mandate that is currently in place through September, it is also required that everyone wear masks while indoors. We understand that this mandate could change at any time and/or maybe extended.

The Board of Education and Director of Sunday School would like to thank all the families that participated in the survey, as these results were very helpful in leading our group with the planning of a safe and welcoming Sunday School year. We will continue to plan for Sunday School opening and will be sharing more details as they become available.

Respectfully submitted, Board of Education & Director of Sunday School

Our purpose is to teach our children how to be the hands and feet of Jesus while growing in their faith.  At Peace Lutheran we use a rotation-type curriculum. We focus on nine lessons throughout the year, one lesson for 3 weeks each. Lessons include cooking, video, and Bible studies.

Our program is mission focused and encourages our children to participate as they are able.  Our missions include Gifts for Children, Guatemala Mission Team, The Baldwin Community Food Pantry, Grace Place, His Arms Kenya, The Family Resource Center and The Baldwin Care Center.

Children, ages 3 years through 9th grade, are encouraged to attend Sunday School.  Sunday School for youth in grades 8 & 9 is considered part of confirmation.

Sunday School classes meet from 9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. every Sunday in the classrooms in the church basement.

Sunday School newsletters are available monthly. They are distributed to the students and are available in the narthex.  Watch for special opportunities to give to the mission groups and for other needs.
