As a result of rising curriculum costs and supplies, there will be a required fee for all Sunday school students and Sunday morning confirmation students this year. The required costs for curriculum and supplies for this year are as follows:
1 child
$30.00
2 children
$50.00
3 or more children
$70.00
These funds will go solely to covering the cost of Sunday school curriculum and supplies. This fee should be collected when you register your child/ren for Sunday school. If you have not yet paid the fee, please turn it in to the church office as soon as possible. If your family is unable to pay the full amount, there are scholarship applications available in the church office or on our website. Sunday school teachers will not be charged a fee; substitutes and assistants will be charged.
If your family starts to attend Sunday school after the first semester is over, you will only be charged the following fee:
1 child
$15.00
2 children
$25.00
3 or more children
$35.00

Peace Lutheran Church will be collecting offering each Sunday during music time on Sundays. The purpose of this offering is not to cover costs, but will be used to teach children of the importance of stewardship in our church. This year’s Sunday school offering will be going towards a local mission. Please involve your children in our church’s stewardship to help them understand how we are asked to give of ourselves to help out the whole community of God. Please encourage them to give a portion of their earnings each week. If the child’s first and last name is clearly printed on the envelope, this offering will be on your giving statement and added to your recorded contributions to Peace. |

In the Case of Teacher Absences |

It is the teacher’s job to find a substitute for all Sundays that they are unable to teach. If your child’s Sunday school teacher is not able to teach Sunday school for any reason, they are asked to contact people on the substitute teacher list first. If they are unable to find anyone on the list to teach, they are then asked to contact the parents of the children in their class, and lastly, other members of the congregation of Peace Lutheran Church.
**Please know that parents may be called and are expected to take an equal share in this role. Please take this opportunity to come and see what your child’s class is learning. ** |

The church recognizes that there is a growing problem of child abuse in our society and in response has designed a policy to address the issue. It is the church's goal to provide a safe, caring and trusting atmosphere where children can learn to grow. Through the implementation of our policy, we hope to heighten awareness and reduce the risk of child abuse, whether it be physical, verbal or sexual. It is also our intent to protect youth workers against false accusations.
Under the preventative measures section in the policy it states to have two adults or one adult and one teen in a room with children at all times in the classrooms without windows to the hallway. For classrooms with windows to the hallway, one adult in the room is okay. There will be a board of education representative monitoring the hallways during every Sunday school session. Some teachers will have a helper with them for the whole year and some will be asking you as parents to be that second person in the room. Please take this opportunity to help us out and to see what your children are learning.
For parents of younger children, please take them to the bathroom prior to leaving them under the church's supervision. These requests will help us abide by our policy. |

A discipline policy has been established, which will be followed by all teachers, assistants, Board of Education members, and the Director of Sunday school. The policy will be posted in all of the classrooms. The policy is as follows:
1st offense - warning (initial instruction)
2nd offense - warning (reissue instruction)
3rd offense - the child will be removed from the classroom to talk with the Director of Sunday school and will be required to write a short essay answering the following questions:
1. What did I do wrong?
2. Why is that wrong?
3. What should I do to make it better?
4. What good things will happen to me?
Once the essay has been completed, the Director of Sunday school will return the child to class and ask the student to apologize for his or her actions. A copy of the letter will be issued to the teacher and another copy will be mailed to the parents. The parent will also be sent an explanation of the incident. Parents must sign and return the essay to the Director of Sunday school.
The second time that a child is removed from the classroom to write an essay, the parent will be required to meet with the Director of Sunday school to discuss the child’s behavior.
If the child is removed from the classroom for a third time, the parent must attend class with the student the following week. |
